Bantu Tech Tour Camp
Bantu Tech Tour Camp is a week long event focusing on bringing Entrepreneurs, Innovators, Developers from Southern African region specifically in (Namibia & Zambia)
to address issues affecting the region (Internet penetration, Open Web,
Innovation & Open Source Cultures) and how the solutions brought
up could provide, revolutionize the region into a tech hub.
The event features various presentations/talks and (hands) on sessions from Mozillians and I-hub coordinators regarding open tools offered by Mozilla, Localization of Mozilla products, Firefox OS and lastly Web-makers.However this event is open to everyone who is passionate about technology, and making the Web an innovative platform and a place to find opportunities.
Bantu Tech Tour Camp
opens up for a long term collaboration with Southern African
Innovation-Hubs between the existing Mozilla Communities in the region ( Botswana,
Zimbabwe & SA) to help establish active and strong Mozilla Communities in
this countries through their respective hubs (Namibia & Zambia).
Objectives & Event Metrics
- Empower educational learning through Mozilla's web-makers tools and other open source tools.
- Explore how Open Data can be used to develop the countries in the region, review various platforms and explore how open data can be improved.
- Explore how to put strong , diverse and thriving open source communities in our region through Mozilla resources.
- Establish long term partnership with I-Hub throughout the entire region.
- Educate attendees on the benefits of contributing to open source technologies
- Encourage women to get involved into Open Source movements and engage through technology.
